As such, Jarvis Commercial is supported by a retained team of in-house and external professionals who have been working together for many years. These people are as follows:
Nicholas Harvey Ratcliffe Bsc MRICS
CO-FOUNDER / DIRECTOR
Nicholas is an accomplished Chartered Surveyor with more than 30 years’ experience within the property industry. His knowledge is vast and spans many aspects of the residential and commercial property sectors, including site acquisition, planning, investment, development and redevelopment.
His ambition to build and invest in bricks and mortar originally manifested itself in the formation of a property investment company, 1987. This company acquired valuable assets in Manchester city centre, such as Norwich Union House on King Street and sought-after property in the Castlefield Basin.
At a similar time, in a joint venture, he acquired a site on Centenary Way in Burnley. The success of this deal resulted in him working exclusively for Sainsbury’s for many fruitful years. Over a 12-year period, Nicholas therefore worked on developing the company’s multi-billion-pound property portfolio and store expansion programme in the North West, Northern England & North Wales.
Later down the line, in 1997, he established the NHR Directors Pension Scheme of which he is a Trustee along with his eldest son Thomas Harvey Ratcliffe. The scheme identifies and invests in commercial property across the North West and is always keen to find new opportunities.
More recently, Nicholas has focused on creating a family legacy by creating property development and investment businesses for his two sons, Thomas Harvey Ratcliffe and Charles Jarvis Ratcliffe. Working with the future of the property industry has given him added motivation on his continued journey in the property world.
Paul Burgess
STRATGEIC GROWTH CONSULTANT
Paul is a practising Lawyer, with an impressive 40 years of experience in the property and real estate sector. The bulk of his career was spent as a Main Board Director at The Emerson Group. While there he was instrumental on the timely delivery of some of the largest mixed-use schemes in the North West.
Paul’s work history also includes his time as COO of De Trafford Group, helping to spearhead their sustainable growth strategy and establishing a bespoke construction division within the business.
Paul’s experience also extends to both residential and commercial property management, as well as residential and commercial construction. He also has extensive and significant knowledge about sourcing and implementing substantial institutional funding deals within the organisations he has worked at.
Paul will draw on his vast experience in the property world and his shrewd understanding of property law to guide the strategic path of Jarvis Commercial, while ensuring the sustainable growth of its commercial and mixed-use schemes.
Charles Jarvis Ratcliffe
TRAINEE DEVELOPMENT SURVEYOR
Charles has been keen to follow in his father’s footsteps in the commercial property sector for many years. Even while he was in Primary School, he regularly accompanied Nick to visit sites and properties across the North West.
In 2020, Charles joined the family business and enrolled on the part-time degree course in Real Estate at Salford University. The course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), meaning he will experience training to the highest industry standards.
Charles will also gain valuable work experience working alongside Nicholas and Paul at Jarvis Commercial.
Charles’ first major project will be to assist Paul Burgess on a soon-to-be-announced mixed-use scheme.
Thomas Harvey Ratcliffe
DEVELOPER
Thomas Harvey Ratcliffe is the co-founder, Managing Director and equal shareholder of Harvey Homes and is also taking on a supportive developer role at Jarvis Commercial.
Having been passionate about property from a young age, it seems as though Tom has inherited the family’s entrepreneurial spirit and is determined to make a success of the Ratcliffe Property Group and all of its subsidiary companies.
In 2017, Tom co-founded Harvey Homes with his father, Nicholas, and began the preparations for commencing work on Swan Green in Knutsford, the company’s first project of 30 bespoke homes. Tom worked to secure the support of specialist lender, Together, to help finance Swan Green, and this collaboration looks set to continue in the coming years.
Alongside the technical skills of housing development and real estate learned from his studies, Tom also has superb management skills and a vital understanding of the local market. This means that he has been afforded full autonomy to grow and expand Harvey Homes within the Ratcliffe Property Group.

Andrew Kitto
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
As our Management Accountant, Andrew is responsible for all the financial side of things, including looking after our suppliers and ensuring that our processes and procedures are working as efficiently as possible.
Andrew has worked with construction, development and property companies ever since he qualified as an accountant more than 25 years ago. He originally worked for an engineering company when he was training and then has always enjoyed the sector, having also got a personal interest in it due to owning several buy-to-let properties.
Jennifer
OFFICE MANAGER
Jennifer is an integral part of the Harvey Homes team and works as our Office Manager. She supports Nick and Tom, while also coordinating much of the property management administration within the Group’s portfolio.
Jennifer has extensive experience within the property world. Having graduated with a degree in Accounting & Finance at the University of Birmingham, Jennifer started her career as a PA in a prominent Estate Agent in Notting Hill.
The following years saw her work in a variety of roles within property development and real estate in London, including roles at several notable agencies. During this time she developed in-depth knowledge and understanding of how the residential and commercial property world operates. Alongside this, Jennifer also acquired a love of bricks and mortar and the fast-paced nature of the sector.
Jennifer relocated back to Cheshire with her family, and joined the Harvey Homes family in 2023.
Lauren Forth
MARKETING & MEDIA PARTNER
The Ratcliffe Property Group and its subsidiary companies is supported by marketing and communications consultant Lauren Forth, from KILO Marketing & Communications, who brings a wealth of property knowledge to the table.
